Trying to answer who the best real-life soccer player in the cast of “Ted Lasso” is a difficult task, according to Brett Goldstein, who plays Roy Kent. He believes Moe Hashim is the best of the bunch, saying, “Gun to head, if you said you can only play one player, I’d go with Moe Hashim, who is just an all-around f*cking great player. He’s a god in the game.”
The show’s casting director, Theo Park, revealed that it was essential for all the players to be able to play soccer, so it was part of their audition process. Cristo Fernández, who is from Guadalajara, Mexico, played professionally in the third and second division and still has a passion for the sport.
Phil Dunster, on the other hand, isn’t a professional footballer, but he trained extensively to make sure he could play his character Jamie Tartt correctly.
