It seems that Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are heading towards divorce after just two years of marriage. The once-powerful couple surprised many by reigniting their relationship from the early 2000s, culminating in a swift wedding in Las Vegas followed by a reception at Affleck‘s $8 million Georgia mansion. However, their marriage has been far from harmonious.
Multiple disagreements between them led to Affleck leaving their $60 million Beverly Hills home to purchase his own $20 million property in Brentwood, a move that reportedly angered Lopez and signaled to her that their marriage was ending. Insiders from Page Six now suggest that JLo and the “Good Will Hunting” actor Affleck are gearing up to publicly declare the end of their marriage.
Affleck, Lopez, and the “most expensive exercise in closure ever”
According to a friend of the disgruntled couple as reported by Page Six, Affleck and Lopez acted impulsively when they opted for a quick wedding in 2022, two decades after calling off their first engagement. The friend revealed that Lopez, who had longed for a lavish wedding, is facing the repercussions of that hasty decision.
“Ultimately, this will be the most intricate and costly closure process ever,” the friend stated to Page Six.
Affleck and Lopez were frequent subjects in the tabloids between 2002 and 2004 before their breakup, attributed to Affleck’s discomfort with the limelight surrounding his relationship with the globally renowned pop icon Lopez. Their attempt to reignite their romance has faltered, with their friend confirming that there are no doubts about the current state of their relationship.
“They have resolved all the unanswered issues from over 20 years ago. They have experienced everything and are now certain that a long-term commitment is not in the cards,” the friend explained. “There are no more uncertainties. They have witnessed all they needed to, and it is the end.”
Lopez recently came back to the Los Angeles region after spending a month at her residence in the Hamptons outside of New York City. Allegedly, JLo is considering buying a new home, signaling a fresh start as her fourth marriage comes to an end.
