Drake Bell’s mental health has been severely impacted by internet trolls. On Wednesday, a Twitter follower tweeted, “Let’s not forget he’s a pedo”, to which Bell responded, “Do a second of research This is what I have to live with everyday they are literally going to kill me. Bloods on their hands…”.
The comment was in reference to a child endangerment charge that Bell pleaded guilty to in 2021. Prosecutors found that the Nickelodeon alum had sent “inappropriate social media messages” to a 15-year-old girl he had met online. As a result, he was sentenced to two years of probation and 200 hours of community service.
Bell has been open about his mental health struggles, and the trolls have taken a toll on him. On Thursday, he tweeted, “It truly blows my mind how mean people are on here to people clearly dealing with mental health issues. It’s unreal how cruel you all can be.”
In April, Bell was reported missing and “endangered” after he allegedly threatened suicide. A 911 call revealed that he had had a “falling out with his wife” and had been texting his family in California saying he was going to “get drunk and hang himself.” Bell has not confirmed these claims, but it was reported that he had entered treatment after being found huffing balloons in his car on two occasions in December, with his young son in the back seat.
Bell’s now-estranged wife, Janet Von Schmeling, officially filed for divorce on Thursday, which Bell found out about online. This difficult period in Bell’s life has been compounded by the relentless trolling from internet users.
