Taylor Swift’s fans were out for blood when they saw Emma Laird posted a photo of the singer’s ex Joe Alwyn on social media Tuesday. The actress ignited the vitriol by including an image of her “The Brutalist” co-star on a scooter in a slideshow on Instagram that featured several other people. Some Swifties went so far as to believe that Alwyn’s appearance in the carousel meant that he was dating his castmate and attacked Laird in the comments section.
The hate appears to have gotten so intense that Laird turned off the comments on her post. Her rep did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment and Swift has not spoken out about her fans’ recent behavior either. However, several Swifties have turned on their fellow fandom for “bullying” Laird.
On April 8, Page Six confirmed that Swift, 33, and Alwyn, 32, had broken up after six years together, but infidelity was not given as the reason for the split. A source previously told Page Six there was “no drama” in Swift and Alwyn’s split. Since calling it quits, the former couple have resumed their regular routines. Alwyn has been in Hungary filming for “The Brutalist” with Laird and their co-stars Adrien Brody, Felicity Jones and Guy Pearce. Meanwhile, Swift has been on her sold-out Eras Tour and spending time with close friends, including Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, on her days off.
It is clear that Taylor Swift’s fans need to calm down. They should not be attacking Emma Laird or speculating about Joe Alwyn’s relationship with her. It is important to remember that there was no evidence of infidelity in the breakup of Taylor and Joe’s relationship. Fans should respect their privacy and focus on the positive aspects of their lives.
