Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise were recently spotted at Los Angeles International Airport, dressed in matching outfits. The mother-daughter duo were preparing to take a flight to an unknown destination. Holmes wore a dark gray sweatshirt, white t-shirt, black sweatpants, Adidas sneakers, an orange baseball cap and a brown purse. Cruise wore a light gray zip-up hoodie, white joggers, black sneakers and a canvas tote slung over her shoulder.
Holmes spoke about her desire to keep her daughter safe in an interview with Glamour magazine earlier this month. She said, “What has been really important for me with my daughter, because she was so visible at a young age, is I really like to protect her.” She also described Cruise as “an incredible person” and said she felt “grateful” to be her mom.
The actress is likely doubly protective of her only child given her highly publicized and seemingly traumatic divorce from Suri’s dad, Tom Cruise. A source exclusively told Page Six last month that Tom, a devout Scientologist, has no part in his youngest kid’s life and has not seen her in a long time. During a deposition for his 2012 defamation lawsuit against Bauer Media, Tom was asked whether his ex-wife had ended their relationship “in part to protect Suri from Scientology.” He responded at the time, “That was one of the assertions, yes.”
