Randall Emmett is sharing his take on Hulu’s upcoming documentary, “The Randall Scandal: Love, Loathing and Vanderpump.”
“Almost one year ago the Los Angeles Times wrote a highly biased and factually inaccurate hit piece on me. One of the writers, Amy Kaufman, seemed to have a personal vendetta against me, I believe due to her alleged friendship with my ex Lala Kent,” Emmett, 52, exclusively tells Page Six in a statement.
“Among other things, the article contained fictitious and greatly exaggerated stories made up by a few former disgruntled employees who had been dismissed,” he continues.
“Lala was also a participant in this fiasco, likely because I have been fighting for 50/50 joint legal custody of our child.”
The movie producer goes on to explain why he didn’t participate in Hulu’s project based on the article. (It should be noted that Kent was not interviewed for the doc.)
“I declined to participate because it very quickly became apparent to me the film was going to be as biased, if not more so, than the article on which it was based,” he says.
“It’s my understanding numerous people were contacted to participate in this documentary and most declined.”
Emmett claims that he was “told people were encouraged to speak negatively about me while the vast majority had only positive things to say.”
The Hollywood vet believes the individuals ultimately included were “the ones who had very definite agendas,” he says.
“It also appears to me that very little if any fact-checking took place, with a complete absence of any journalistic integrity whatsoever,” he adds.

Emmett then reiterates his belief that the doc is “nothing more than a vindictive hit piece.”
He also calls it “a regurgitation of the biased Los Angeles Times article” and slams it as “a cheap attempt to capitalize on the current ‘Vanderpump Rules’ fever,” referencing Tom Sandoval’s cheating scandal.
“My family, the people with whom I work and those who matter in my life all know the truth and my accomplishments; I have nothing to prove,” he concludes.
Hulu, Kaufman and a rep for Kent didn’t immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
Emmett’s thoughts on the matter come just one day after ABC News Studios and LA Times Studios announced their investigation into the allegations of race discrimination and workplace abuse against Emmett — all of which he has vehemently denied.
The 90-minute film features access to interview footage of Kent, 32, who opens up about the demise of her relationship with Emmett and how she discovered the accusations against her ex-fiancé.
The two — who split in October 2021 — are currently fighting over custody of their 2-year-old daughter, Ocean, as Emmett mentioned to us.
Additional “Randall Scandal” interviews include L.A. Times reporters Kaufman and Meg James, comedian Heather McDonald, podcast host David Yontef and Alicia Haverland, prop master for Emmett’s film “Midnight in the Switchgrass.”
This isn’t the first Bravo-focused doc released via Hulu. The streamer previously dropped “The Housewife and The Hustler,” centered on the legal drama surrounding Tom Girardi, the estranged husband of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Erika Jayne.”
Hulu later dropped “The Housewife and The Shah Shocker,” which looked into the life of “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” star and convicted fraudster Jen Shah, who is serving time in jail now after pleading guilty.
“The Randall Scandal: Love, Loathing and Vanderpump” begins streaming Monday, May 22, only on Hulu.
