Meri Brown’s Journey of Self-Discovery: Insights on Her Sexuality

Everything Sister Wives Star Meri Brown Has Said About Her Sexuality

Meri Brown, known as Kody Brown’s first “sister wife,” has faced years of public attention regarding her family’s polygamous lifestyle. Even after separating from Kody, she has dealt with rampant rumors concerning her sexuality. However, Meri has made it clear that she identifies as straight.

Meri married Kody in 1990, shortly after their initial meeting. They welcomed their sole child, Leon, in 1995, but by then, Kody had also brought on Janelle and Christine as wives. In 2014, Meri and Kody divorced to allow him to legally wed his fourth wife, Robyn. Following their split, the relationship between Kody and Meri deteriorated further, leading to Meri’s final departure from the family in 2022. Since then, she has actively dispelled rumors about returning to polygamy, stating, “I promise that one’s never gonna happen,” during her appearance on “The Sarah Fraser Show” podcast.

Meri has also addressed speculation regarding her sexuality, emphasizing that she is solely interested in men and is on the lookout for the right partner.

Meri Brown ‘Identifies as Straight’

Following her separation from Kody, speculation has swirled around Meri’s love life, especially concerning her friendships, particularly with women. Tired of the constant gossip, Meri has clarified in an Instagram Live session that she is definitively straight, stating, “I am coming out as being straight.”

Meri expressed her frustration about the assumptions people make regarding her relationships with her friends, emphasizing that she is capable of having platonic relationships regardless of gender. She’s supportive of the LGBTQ+ community, noting her pride in her transgender child Leon and stating, “Whatever you want to be is whoever you are.” Her confusion during a past catfishing incident stemmed from feelings of betrayal rather than the gender of the person involved, and she hopes everyone will move forward from that incident.

Meri Remains Open to Love

Meri briefly dated Amos Andrews for four months, but their differing life goals led to a mutual breakup in early 2024. She candidly addressed the split in an Instagram post, highlighting the complexity of developing deep feelings for someone while recognizing that a lasting partnership wasn’t feasible at that time. They parted amicably without hard feelings.

Despite the challenges, Meri maintains optimism about love, stating she now has a clearer understanding of what she seeks in a partner: “I’m not really looking for a prince, no, I’m looking for a king.” She emphasizes the difference in energy between a prince and a king, desiring a partner who is confident and self-assured. She believes that when the right person comes into her life, they’ll recognize and connect with each other’s energy.
