Corinne Foxx’s Diagnosis of Juvenile Arthritis

Corinne Foxx's Diagnosis of Juvenile Arthritis

Corinne Foxx experienced undiagnosed endometriosis throughout her teenage years and early adulthood. It was not until a roommate noticed her in the fetal position on the floor that she realized her pain was abnormal. She told Today, “That was the moment for me where it just changed the trajectory of my life. And then I went on this journey to start figuring out, ‘Well, if it’s not normal, then what is it?'” Foxx is now an ambassador for the Endometriosis Foundation of America and Sollis Health and has made it her mission to speak out about endometriosis.

Unfortunately, the diagnosis process for this disease can be lengthy due to medical professionals often disregarding people’s reproductive pain and women’s pain in general. Foxx said, “It was really a terrifying process and a frustrating process. There’s a lot of medical gaslighting that goes into this journey. I think women of color, especially, are often silenced or not believed when they come in with symptoms.” She did her own research before finding a specialist and the proper surgery for her.
