Prince William, Kate Middleton, and King Charles III himself gave fans a special surprise the day before the King’s coronation. The Prince and Princess of Wales joined the king in greeting fans already camped out between Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey on May 5, and all seemed happy to be there.

“It’s a moment of celebration. Enjoy tomorrow,” Kate told a group of spectators, per the BBC. She also told a reporter that her three kids were “a bit nervous” and “excited” for the upcoming festivities. The king also laughed when asked if he was nervous, per the outlet, and while speaking to a child, he quipped, “No school? You’ve done very well!”

It’s been a busy start to a monumental weekend for William, Kate, and Charles, to say the least. Also on Friday, the three royals attended a rehearsal for the ceremony at Westminster Abbey, per People. In the afternoon, the trio attended a luncheon at Buckingham Palace with government officials and various prime ministers, including Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and New Zealand’s Prime Minister Chris Hipkins.

Charles’s coronation, set for May 6, marks his official ascension to the throne as well as his wife Camilla’s official crowning as Queen Consort. For the first time, it will also include a “homage to the people,” wherein the public are invited to swear allegiance to their new monarch. Entertainers including Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Andrea Bocelli are slated to perform, along with ensemble performances by refugees, LGBTQ+, and deaf choirs.

Also in attendance at the ceremony will be Charles’s youngest son Prince Harry, though his wife Meghan Markle and their two children will not be making the trek across the pond.
