Karma was two queens when Ice Spice joined Taylor Swift onstage to perform their new “Karma” remix during the Eras Tour’s New Jersey stop on Friday, May 26. The performance marked the singers’ first time singing their new duet live. The “Karma” remix was officially released on the same day as part of Swift’s “Midnights (Til Dawn Edition).”

The 23-year-old rapper surprised fans when she came out onstage at the New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium near the end of the show. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Swift paused for a moment during the concert to talk about how her collaboration with the “No Clarity” singer came about.

“I want to explain how this came about because it just felt like karma or fate or something,” Swift said. “I got reached out to by Ice Spice … what she didn’t know at the time is that I was listening to pretty much exclusively just her music every single day, all day and getting in the zone to tour.”

She continued, “And so I said, ‘Absolutely. When can we do it?’ So we immediately went in the studio … I just not only fell in love with her but just decided she’s the entire future. I’ve been around so many artists and so many artists that are starting out, but I’ve never been around someone who is that prepared and curious and focused on what she wants. So I was absolutely blown away.”

The “Ant-Hero” singer’s comments come as Ice Spice is in the midst of a big year. In addition to remixing “Karma” with Swift, she’s also collaborated with Nicki Minaj and PinkPantheress and attended the Met Gala in recent months. She and Swift also debuted their new music video during their performance on Friday night.
