Jack Harlow and Sinqua Walls Are Kings of the Blacktop in the "White Men Can't Jump" Trailer

Sinqua Walls and Jack Harlow are a basketball-winning machine in the official trailer for Hulu’s “White Men Can’t Jump” reboot. In the clip — released April 20 — Walls stars as Kamal, a promising player whose future got derailed, and Harlow plays Jeremy, whose own career was ground to a stop by injuries. Jeremy is dedicated to meditation, hydration, and yoga; Kamal tells him in the trailer he’s dressed like “a white girl at Whole Foods.”

Despite their differences, though, they come together to try to win money in a street basketball tournament, which would give a major boost to both their families. The plot is familiar to fans of the original 1992 film, but the new movie looks to put a modern spin on the events.

News that Walls was joining Harlow in the reboot of the classic 1992 sports comedy first broke in April 2022. The actor previously appeared in Netflix 2021 rom-com “Resort to Love” opposite Christina Milian. He also starred in the horror film “Nanny,” which premiered at Sundance in 2022 and won the Grand Jury Prize at the festival.

Meanwhile, “White Men Can’t Jump” marks Harlow’s first acting role. According to Deadline, he was cast in the role after his first-ever screen audition, which deeply impressed the execs.

The “White Men Can’t Jump” remake is based on a script from Doug Hall and “Black-ish” creator Kenya Barris, who also wrote the current “Cheaper by the Dozen” remake. The film is directed by Calmatic, who has made a name for himself directing music videos, including the blockbuster video for Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road.” One of the film’s producers is current NBA star Blake Griffin, who knows a thing or two about dominating on the court.

The original “White Men Can’t Jump” features Harrelson, Snipes, and Rosie Perez, with Harrelson playing a former college basketball player who hustles other players who assume he’s bad at basketball. His character teaming up with Snipes to try to win increasing amounts of money, but his obsession with gambling on games drives a wedge between him and his girlfriend (Perez). If fans are worried about Harlow not exactly being basketball-player height, they should note that Harrelson and Snipes both come in under six feet tall. Walls,
