When Janet Jackson’s ex-husband, James DeBarge, made a startling admission on WE TV’s “Growing Up Hip Hop” in 2016, fans of the singer were left stunned. In the viral footage, James revealed that he and Janet had a secret daughter. He expressed his weariness with the secrecy surrounding the situation, saying, “I’m tired of the truth not coming forward, and people being a coward when it comes to it. And I thought it was wise for me to speak out now because it needs to be addressed.” He had actually hoped the rumors were false, but admitted, “To be honest with you, I didn’t know. I was under the impression that there was no baby, and I wanted to believe it’s not true. But it is.”
In 2017, the supposed daughter, Tiffany Whyte, came forward to Radar Online. She revealed that she had been kept a secret for many years and expressed her frustrations with Janet’s denial of her. Whyte grew up with foster parents and had a DNA match with James’ mother, Etterlene DeBarge. Despite all of this, Janet has yet to comment on the situation.
