After a long wait of almost a year, fans can finally stop referring to Jimin’s upcoming solo album as “PJM1”. On Feb. 21, Big Hit Entertainment revealed the title of the album to be “Face”. Since then, there has been an abundance of information about the album. On Feb. 23, Big Hit released the tracklist of the album, which included the singles and even a hint of an English version of the main single. Additionally, a featurette was shared that gave an insight into Jimin’s creative process and a sneak peek of some of the music from “Face”. On March 7, Big Hit shared Jimin’s first mood photo for the album.
Before February, Jimin had kept his solo plans quite secretive, apart from letting fans know that he was “working” on it on multiple occasions and dropping “Vibe”, a collaboration with Big Bang’s Taeyang. In a January 2022 interview with W Korea, Jimin spoke about the experience of recording an album on his own for the first time. He said, “So many things are different. Since I am working alone, it makes me think a lot, which makes outcomes slower. When I work with the members, we talk about lots of things and clear them quickly. I think the problem is doing it for the first time. Since I am working on an album like this for the first time, ‘Can it be released like this?’ I am having lots of thoughts like that, which makes me modify more and do it over.”
Korean media outlets have reported that Jimin has some exciting performances planned for the album. J-Hope may have also hinted at a potential collaboration between Jimin and Justin Bieber.
