LaKeith Stanfield and Rosario Dawson Battle Supernatural Forces in "Haunted Mansion" Trailer

The first official poster for the “Haunted Mansion” remake was released on March 2, 2021. It shows the main characters looking very creeped out on a staircase.

The highly anticipated remake of “Haunted Mansion” is finally here, and we have our first look! Walt Disney Studios released the official trailer on March 2, giving us a glimpse of the star-studded cast, including LaKeith Stanfield, Tiffany Haddish, Owen Wilson, Danny DeVito, Rosario Dawson, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Jared Leto. The movie’s first poster was also revealed, featuring the main characters looking spooked on a staircase.

The original 2003 film starred Eddie Murphy as an overworked realtor who gets trapped in a ghost-infested mansion with his family. Unfortunately, it was heavily panned, earning a 13 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Now, it’s up to the remake to improve upon the concept.

The “Haunted Mansion” attraction first opened at Disneyland in California in 1969 and was initially conceptualized by Walt Disney himself. It eventually spread to Disney’s parks around the world. The reboot was announced in 2010 with Guillermo del Toro signed on to write and produce. However, after del Toro submitted his script in 2013, it was deemed too scary and Katie Dippold was brought on board to write another screenplay. Justin Simien was then confirmed as the director in 2021.

The movie follows a single mom named Gabbie (Dawson) and her 9-year-old son who move into a mansion in New Orleans and soon discover it’s haunted. They enlist the help of a priest (Wilson), a psychic (Curtis), a historian (DeVito), and a paranormal investigator (Stanfield). “Haunted Mansion” will be released in theaters on July 28, 2023.
