At the peak of the Lea Michele Twitter backlash, a snippet of her guest appearance on Jamie Lee Curtis’ podcast “Good Friend” with her best friend Jonathan Groff surfaced. The trio discussed their time on Broadway’s “Spring Awakening,” which won eight Tony Awards, but none of them went to Michele. Curtis jokingly pointed out that Michele didn’t receive any of the awards, prompting laughter from the three. Fans found Curtis’ comments “savage,” although it was all said in good fun. Months later, Curtis showed her appreciation for Michele and the cast of “Spring Awakening” when she posted on Instagram about the documentary “Spring Awakening: Those You’ve Known” on HBO. She expressed her awe for Michele and Groff and the entire cast and creators of the musical.
