Saweetie Calls for More Representation of Black Girl Superheroes and Supervillains in Acting Roles

Saweetie is taking her career to the next level by tackling a new craft: acting! Following small roles on shows like “Grown-ish” and “Bel-Air,” the “Tap In” rapper is now starring in a short film for Candy Crush Saga. The imaginative film finds her spy-like character and fellow Icy girls attempting a heist for a blue jewelry box, made by Icebox, before their plan is ultimately crushed. Saweetie has caught the acting bug and has her eye on more onscreen projects, noting that she “could definitely see myself transitioning into a role where I’m not playing myself.” She even has her sights set on being a supervillain in a DC movie! While fans await new music and her debut album, Saweetie is manifesting her dream of playing a Black girl superhero or supervillain.
