Showrunner of "Power" Confirms Lauren's Departure Is Still a Major Storyline in Season 3

Surprise, “Power Book II: Ghost” fans — Lauren is back! In the season three premiere on March 17, it was revealed that Lauren (played by Paige Hurd) was never actually killed off by Effie (Alix Lapri) and Brayden (Gianni Paolo) in season two’s penultimate episode. Instead, ADA Jenny Sullivan (Paton Ashbrook) had been hiding her at an undisclosed location the entire time. This secret is sure to cause major problems for the trio in season three, as Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.), Lauren’s boyfriend, is completely in the dark about the situation.

Alix Lapri notes that the truth about what happened to Lauren is going to completely wreck the trust between the three friends. “I think that it can’t end in any other way besides terrible,” she says frankly. “Hopefully, we can all still be friends after. [But] I think it’s just a lot to kill someone’s lover.” Rainey Jr. adds that Tariq “doesn’t do well with being lied to,” and viewers have seen what betrayal has pushed him to do in the past.

Showrunner Brett Mahoney reveals that the show is still following Tariq’s “coming-of-age story,” and he has to choose what path is best for him as a man. New episodes of “Power Book II: Ghost” air every Friday on Starz.
