"The Novel "Daisy Jones & The Six" is Based on a Famous Real-Life Rock Band"

The Amazon Prime Video adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel “Daisy Jones and the Six” is one of the most talked-about TV shows of the year. It tells the story of a fictional rock band in the 1970s, inspired by the real-life drama of Fleetwood Mac. In a 2019 article for Reese Witherspoon’s “Hello Sunshine,” Reid explained how her fascination with the band turned into material for her novel. She was captivated by the idea that, despite everything they’d been through, Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham still had a tender moment during a performance.

The characters and backstories in “Daisy Jones and the Six” are not based on any specific members of Fleetwood Mac, but the drama of the band is well-known. The group’s most famous lineup included Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, and Stevie Nicks. Buckingham and Nicks were the last two to join, and their relationship eventually ended as they worked on their iconic album “Rumours.” The band went on hiatus and eventually lost several members, including Buckingham and Nicks. In 2018, Buckingham departed the group under contentious circumstances; he was reportedly fired over a disagreement about the upcoming tour, while he claimed it was the result of a conflict with Nicks.
