Ha Lan Milk’s CEO, Nguyen Trung Vuong, was arrested for producing counterfeit goods. In response, Dutch Lady issued a statement to distinguish itself from Ha Lan amid consumer confusion.
The Environmental Crime Prevention Department launched a criminal case against Holland Milk for producing and selling counterfeit food products. Vuong, with a background in pharmacy, knowingly engaged in this illegal activity for financial gain.
Vuong closely managed production and distribution remotely through online channels. Authorities seized substandard product samples from Holland Milk, with the majority failing quality tests. Products worth over VND 4.1 billion were confiscated.
Additional products are being investigated after 2,011 boxes were sold without recall. Holland Milk, founded in 2016 by Vuong, specialized in dairy products and claimed to meet international standards with a variety of offerings.
Vuong, driven by personal reasons, started the company to improve his children’s health. Following the incident, Dutch Lady clarified its distinction from Holland Milk, highlighting that Dutch Lady focuses on liquid milk production.
The similar names of the companies have caused confusion, negatively impacting the Dutch Lady brand image.
