Anthony Joshua to Face Potential Retirement if He Loses to Jermaine Franklin on Saturday

Anthony Joshua has declared that he will retire from boxing if he loses to Jermain Franklin in their upcoming fight at the O2 Arena on Saturday April 1. This will be AJ’s first professional fight since his defeat to Oleksandr Usyk in December 2020, and the pressure is on for him to win. When asked about the possibility of retirement if he loses, Joshua said: “I will. I will retire if I lose. I’m not here to battle people. If people want me to retire I will retire. I’m not going to fight if people don’t want me too. It’s not even about the money. It’s about the competitor in you. That’s what’s important.” He went on to discuss the pressure he is under, saying: “It comes with the business and it comes with the territory, I know that.” Joshua also said that when he retires, he will be “laughing and loving life” and free from the pressure of his career.
