The government of Lagos took action against individuals who were demanding N100 from pedestrians to use a makeshift bridge in the Trade Fair area.
Tokunbo Wahab, the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, shared details of the arrest on social media. The reported extortion prompted the intervention following heavy rainfall in the vicinity.
Confirming the arrests via social media, Wahab assured that the culprits would face legal consequences. He stated: ”Following a complaint made by #ARISE0214, miscreants charging people for using the makeshift crossover bridge at Tradefair this morning have been arrested by the operatives of Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps #LAGESCOfficial.
“They will be prosecuted according to the law.”
