On Sunday, March 26, 2023, two police officers were tragically killed when unknown assailants attacked a checkpoint in Uwani, Enugu State. Reports indicate that the attack happened at a police checkpoint between Kenyatta market and the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus (UNEC) stadium gate around 12 pm. An eyewitness said that the officers, who were conducting a stop and search, were taken by surprise. A video circulating on Facebook shows the two officers lying in pools of blood on the ground and in the gutter.
