Federal Executive Council Approves N4 Billion for Construction of Barracks for NDLEA Personnel

The Federal Executive Council has approved over four billion naira for the construction of barracks to house personnel of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), made the announcement, citing the “unprecedented” threats and attacks on the agency’s personnel. Malami stated that due to the agency’s successes in arresting 18,940 people and confiscating drugs with an estimated value of N40 billion naira within three months of 2023, it was necessary to provide security measures to protect its officers and men. Two companies, Wizchino Engineering Limited and JP Sigma Nigeria Limited, were awarded contracts for the project, with the first contractor costing N2.2 billion and the second contractor costing N2.8 billion. The blocks consist of many flats.
