On Thursday, March 16, security personnel attached to the convoy of the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, clashed with members of the Shi’ite movement in Bakin Ruwa, Igabi Local Government Area. According to a Shi’ite leader, Abu Nurayn, five people were killed and many more injured by stray bullets fired by the security operatives. Usman Abdullahi, another Shi’ite leader, stated that the five killed were not members of the movement but rather commercial bus drivers and/or their conductors. The Kaduna State Police Command has confirmed the incident and is currently conducting an investigation.
