IPOB Named 10th Deadliest Terrorist Group Globally by Global Terrorism Index

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have strongly denounced the Global Terrorism Index report of 2022, which labeled them as a terrorist organization. Emma Powerful, the spokesperson of IPOB, declared that the report was a malicious attempt to defame them before the world. The pro-Biafra group expressed their disappointment that the USA-based Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) had published such false and inaccurate accounts in their report.

A statement by Powerful read: “The Indigenous People of Biafra, under the leadership of our able Leader, Mazi Nnamdi Okwuchukwu KANU, strongly refute the Global Terrorism Index Report of 2022 as a conspiracy by Federal Government of Nigeria and some foreign Agencies to discredit and demonize IPOB globally. We are appalled that a reputable organization such as IEP would stoop so low to publish such fictitious and inaccurate information.”

Powerful further challenged the report to present concrete evidence of IPOB being responsible for any civilian deaths. He said: “In the same report, IPOB was mentioned as the 3rd violent group that has caused civilian deaths. We challenge IEP to provide tangible evidence of where IPOB killed any person in Nigeria. On the contrary, there is ample proof both in print and on social media of the massacre and extrajudicial killings of many IPOB members by Nigerian Security Agencies since 2017.”
