Kourtney Kardashian Thinks God Is Punishing Us With Coronavirus

The horrific coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic has inspired numerous responses. Some are turning to God for comfort in this dark time. Kourtney Kardashian, however, is turning to God for answers as to why the coronations crisis is happening.

The Bible features numerous passages where God punishes the unrighteous. Kardashian read one such passage and connected it to the current coronavirus crisis. Kardashian may have revealed she thinks the world brought this epidemic on itself. Unsurprisingly, she’s not the only one who sees this virus as a fulfillment of Bible verses.

Kourtney Kardashian gets biblical over the coronavirus

Kardashian posted a pic on Twitter of her Bible opened to 2 Chronicles 7. She circled verses 13 and 14, in which God says “Whenever I hold back the rain or send locusts to eat up the crops or send an epidemic on my people, if they pray to me and repent and turn away from the evil they have been doing, then I will hear them in heaven, forgive their sins, and make their land prosperous again.”

By these verses, she wrote “Pay Attention Children.” In the opinions of many fans, Kardashian’s message is clear. Kardashian thinks the world has been so unrighteous God is punishing us with the coronavirus. She also thinks God will end this epidemic if only the world becomes better.

Kourtney Kardashian looks to the Bible to explain the coronavirus.

Read in context, God is giving this warning to King Solomon, a king from the Old Testament. Whether or not this warning applied specifically to King Solomon’s time or was universal is a matter for the theologians. We can’t know her thoughts for sure, but fans think Kardashian is advocating the latter interpretation. Interestingly, Yung Thug also drew a connection between the verses Kardashian cited and the coronavirus.

Does the coronavirus signal the apocalypse?

Kardashian is not the only one turning to the Bible for answers during this epidemic. Some Christians are wondering if the coronavirus heralds the apocalypse predicted in the New Testament. During one of his most famous sermons, Jesus Christ said the end of the world would be preceded by “famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in [numerous] places.”

However, the Bible says numerous other things will happen before the end times. Biblical signs of the end include a star falling from heaven and poisoning the water supply and humanoid locusts. None of those things are happening this moment, unless there’s some major news stories the media hasn’t covered.

Many Christian theologians don’t see this crisis as the beginning of the end. The Washington Post quoted theologian Jeff Kinley, who said “If a person were just completely ignorant about what the Bible says about the End Times, they may think this right now: This is it.” Only time (and a plague of humanoid locusts) will tell. For all we know, Kardashian may have hit a bullseye.
