Lizzo Is Helping out With the Australian Bushfires, Inspiring Fans to Get Involved

With the bushfire crisis still impacting wildlife and homes in Australia, some celebrities took it upon themselves to raise and donate money to relief programs. Lizzo took that one step further, using her downtime in Australia to volunteer for Foodbank Victoria. Here’s what fans are saying about this Grammy-nominated artist and what other celebrities helping out with the Australian bushfires.

Lizzo volunteered at a Foodbank in response to the Australian bushfires

She’s got the juice and a big heart. After performing at the Sydney Opera House on Jan 8, this Grammy-nominated artist volunteered offstage for those impacted by the bushfire crisis. She visited the Foodbank Australia in Victoria, sharing her time and posing for pictures, shared by the non-profit organization.

Foodbank Australia wrote on their Facebook page, “Beautiful Lizzo stopped by our Foodbank Victoria warehouse today to thank our hardworking team and vollies who have been working tirelessly for the past six days. What a [star,] she even packed hampers for fire-affected regions. Thank you for the support.”

Other celebrities are getting involved with bushfire relief programs

The Australian bushfires, which have been burning since September, caused monumental damage to some regions of the continent. The crisis caused the death of an estimated one billion animals and destroyed the habitat of others.

BBC reports, “Some 27 people have so far been killed – including four firefighters – and an estimated 10 million hectares (100,000 sq km or 15.6 million acres) of bush, forest, and parks across Australia has burned.” As a result, some celebrities took to social media, sharing with their fans ways to donate and get involved. That includes P!nk, Kacey Musgraves, Selena Gomez, and Ellen DeGeneres.

Fans of Lizzo shared their love for this artist on social media

Once news spread of Lizzo’s volunteer work, some fans took to social media, sharing their support of this artist and her work. (In fact, Lizzo is one of the artists with the most nominations at the 2020 Grammy Awards.)

“This is Lizzo taking a break on her tour in Australia to volunteer at a food bank during the wildfires. Good ole’ wholesome content,” one Twitter user said. Some fans were inspired by this pop artist and raised money to support non-profit organizations.

“I’ve decided to sell my Lizzo ticket for tonight in order to try [to] raise funds for the bushfires. I will be donating the funds to the World Wildlife Fund as my work has promised to match all employee donations. Highest offer by 5 p.m. tonight will get the ticket, please reply or DM me,” another Twitter user wrote.
