On Monday, March 27, Surajo Hamza, a 34-year-old mason from Zaman Gida in Asokoro, Abuja, was remanded in a correctional centre by a Grade I Area Court in Karu, Abuja. He had been accused of illicit s3x with a housewife, as well as criminal trespass, adultery, and causing harm. The trial judge, Umar Mayana, postponed the decision on bail and adjourned the case until April 4 for further hearing. As a result, Hamza was ordered to be held in Keffi Correctional Centre until the police investigation was complete.
The Prosecution Counsel, Edwin Ochayi, reported that the incident had been reported by a team of policemen from the Asokoro Police Station. He explained that Hamza had “criminally trespassed” into the shop of one Gloria Joseph, wife of Pius Gwaza of Kuruduma, Asokoro, Abuja and began having s3x with her. When Gloria’s husband discovered them, the defendant allegedly fought him and used a sharp object to injure both him and his wife. During police investigation, Hamza confessed to the crime. Ochayi noted that the offence violated Sections 97, 242, and 387 of the Penal Code. Despite this, Hamza pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to him.
