Ogun Hospital Loses Millions in Equipment Theft After Inauguration

Just one month after it was inaugurated by Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, the newly opened 100-bed Mother and Child Hospital in Iperu, Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State has been vandalized by thieves. Electronic equipment worth millions of naira was stolen from the hospital. David Akinremi, the State Commandant of the Security Network (Amotekun Corps), has confirmed the incident and reported that three suspects have been arrested in connection with the crime. The items stolen include six 43-inch Hisense T.V. sets, two 65-inch Bruhm T.V sets, three Bruhm fridges, one Midea refrigerator, and three Lontor rechargeable standing fans, all valued at N3 million. The prime suspect, Ogunjembola Kehinde, was arrested following a complaint of burglary from one of his victims, Kehinde Banjoko. Banjoko had reported that her apartment was broken into while she was away in Lagos and items such as generating sets, gas cylinder, standing fan, mattresses and rug were stolen, valued at about N500,000. According to Akinremi, the prime suspect admitted to committing the crime with one other person who is still at large. He also admitted to breaking into and stealing from the Mother and Child Hospital. The investigation is ongoing and efforts are being made to apprehend other criminal receivers mentioned by the suspects and recover the items allegedly sold to them.
