The Batman marked Robert Pattinson’s debut in the superhero genre. To the surprise of many, his take on Bruce Wayne and his Caped Crusader alter ego has received mostly positive reviews from both critics and fans. According to his co-stars Charlie and Max Carver — the twins who portray the guards in the Iceberg Lounge — it was quite the experience watching a “goofball” like Pattinson transform into a “ferocious” superhero.
The Carver twins enjoyed Robert Pattinson’s ‘different take’ on ‘The Batman’
Charlie and Max recently spoke with The Illuminerdi about their experience acting alongside Pattinson in The Batman, and they revealed that the Twilight alum had a much different energy and vibe when he was in the batsuit compared to when he was Bruce Wayne.
In the memorable scene that featured both Batman and Bruce Wayne knocking on the door, Charlie Carver says that was the first time he saw Pattinson without the batsuit, and it was “shocking” because of the actor’s “different take” on the role.

“When we saw him as Bruce Wayne, it was the first time we’d seen Pattinson as that half of the character. It was shocking because we’re both big Batman fans here,” Charlie explained. “It was just such a different take. I think such an honest take about this wounded, traumatized billionaire.”

The first thing that the Carver brothers filmed with Pattinson was “that big action sequence at the drop’s factory warehouse where the Batmobile is revealed.” That was also the first time they saw Pattinson in the batsuit.
However, it wasn’t until the scene where “he opens the door, or we open the door, and you see Batman in front of you” that they truly appreciated Pattinson’s transformation.

“I mean, first of all. Rob off camera, is just like the sweetest, goofiest guy, consummate professional, but like so warm, so lovely to be around,” Charlie said. “He was ferocious in that suit. It was one thing to see him kind of play elsewhere, but to get punched in the face by Batman, over and over again, that was a trip.”
The Carver twins know what they would like to see in ‘The Batman’ sequel
Both Charlie and Max say that the contrast between Pattinson’s portrayal of Bruce and Batman “couldn’t have been more different.” Fans may have gotten to enjoy it on screen, but seeing it in person was “just really incredible.”
“It was interesting to see the difference…I mean, Rob’s like maybe 6’3, just a huge imposing guy… and then you see Bruce show up who’s this kind of wounded, almost shrunken reclusive. There’s such a difference between the two and I thought Rob really brought a special interpretation of this character and in that, there’s so much room moving forward,” Max told ComicBookMovie.com.

He added that in the sequel, he would like to see “Bruce develop into maybe the kind of playboy billionaire we all know.” But he really likes where they started the story because of the “surprise” of seeing Bruce Wayne so early on in his vigilante career.
The Batman is now playing on HBO Max and is available on DVD and Blu-Ray.
