Tyla, the renowned Grammy-winning South African vocalist, has spoken out against the bullying directed at Chidimma Vanessa Onwe Adetshina, another finalist in the Miss South Africa pageant, who chose to withdraw from the competition due to the scrutiny surrounding her nationality.
Adetshina, a model with Nigerian and Mozambican heritage, stirred up controversy in July when she advanced to the top 16 of the Miss South Africa beauty pageant.
Despite making it to the Top 11 Finalists, she decided to step back from the competition after facing allegations from the South African Department of Home Affairs regarding potential fraud and identity theft by her mother.
Tyla expressed her disappointment at the mistreatment Adetshina endured, firmly stating that she was bullied out of the competition.
Sharing a news piece about Adetshina’s withdrawal from the contest via X, Tyla commented: “Disappointed that this happened to her, but wish you all the best girl. Kill it!”
“I will always stand with South Africa, i just feel regardless of the opinions… She was bullied and that’s what I don’t stand for.”
Miss Universe Nigeria has extended an invitation to Chidimma Adetshina to participate in their competition. However, she has not responded to the invitation yet.
