BBC documentary will analyze Hussle’s death and the mystery of whether it was a “one-person job

BBC has announced an upcoming documentary, The Mysterious Murder of Nipsey Hussle, slated to be available for viewing at the end of this month. Famed BBC journalist, Ben Zand, took lead on the project.

“[I will speak to] the people who knew Nipsey best, [hear] the established facts and conspiracies around his death,” he said according to The Jasmine Brand.

“On the 31st of March 2019, the rapper and entrepreneur was shot dead. Loved by his community, Nipsey was more than a rapper – he was an icon,” the film’s description reads on the BBC website. “But that’s what made his death so confusing, the man everyone loved and looked up to was shot at least ten times on the very property he owned.”

Zand confirmed that he spoke with Hussle’s former neighbors and friends, Los Angeles community leaders, a former Los Angeles Police Department officer, a Black Panthers branch called the Black Riders. Many of those he interviewed believe an LAPD and government conspiracy are behind Hussle’s murder – as well as original Crip gang members, who claim that an act of disrespect led to Hussle’s.

The documentary involves commentary on Hussle’s accused murderer, Eric Holder, with the description noting, “Although Holder was allegedly the person to pull the trigger, some Crenshaw locals believe he may not have been the person to authorize Nipsey’s killing.”

There’s also another Nipsey Hussle documentary allegedly in the works for Netflix

The BBC is not the only outlet seeking to delve into Hussle. In February 2020, reports surfaced that Ava DuVernay was leading the production of a Netflix documentary regarding Hussle’s life and influence in Los Angeles.

Variety reported the untitled project will be executive produced by Roc Nation and Hussle’s children, Emani and Kross Asghedom.

“No final deal has been inked,” a post read on Hussle’s Marathon Clothing Instagram account. “The documentary is very important to the family and will not be fast-tracked by monetary gain and/or commercial interest.”

Hussle’s estate is currently being managed by his brother, Samiel Asghedom. In addition to the Netflix documentary, several real estate deals are said to be in the final stages of closing – many of which were being worked in by Hussle and his business partners prior to his death.

A brand partnership between PUMA and Hussle’s Marathon Clothing was also released following his death. Hussle’s first studio album, Victory Lap, was certified platinum by the RIAA ahead of Grammy weekend 2020.
