Katy Perry had a memorable exit from Westminster Abbey on Saturday following the coronation ceremony of King Charles III and Queen Camilla. As she left the Anglican church, Perry nearly tripped in her white stiletto heels, which slipped on the wet concrete. Fortunately, she was able to regain her balance and avoid a disaster.
The 38-year-old pop star was dressed in a Vivienne Westwood-designed lilac set with a matching hat and gloves. Inside the Abbey, however, Perry was not as lucky. She went viral for looking confused while trying to find her seat at the start of the coronation.
The “Dark Horse” singer’s confusion was met with amusement by royal watchers, who joked about the incident on social media. One fan tweeted, “Looking for my friends in the club after coming in from the smoking area.” Another added, “Ladies and gentlemen… a new meme had been born.”
Perry is set to perform at King Charles’ coronation concert on Sunday. She said in a statement last month that she was “excited to be performing at the coronation concert and helping to shine a further light on the British Asian Trust’s Children’s Protection Fund.”
The singer first met Charles at an event in 2019 and was appointed as an ambassador for the British Asian Trust the following year. Other celebrities set to perform at Charles’ coronation concert Sunday include Lionel Richie, British pop group Take That and opera stars Andrea Bocelli and Bryn Terfel.
