Frank Ocean Announces Long-Awaited Musical Return After 7 Years.

Frank Ocean has been a musical force since 2016, when he released his critically acclaimed sophomore album “Blonde.” His sorrowful lyrics have become the soundtrack to post-heartbreak moments, and fans are still eagerly awaiting new music from the artist. In January 2021, Coachella confirmed Ocean as a headliner for the 2023 festival, further stirring up anticipation for a new album.

Since “Blonde,” Ocean has sporadically released singles and made feature appearances on tracks like JAY-Z’s “Caught Their Eyes,” Calvin Harris’ “Slide,” A$AP Mob’s “Raf,” and Tyler, the Creator’s “911 / Mr. Lonely.” He also released a cover of “Moon River” in 2018 and two tracks in 2020, “Dear April” and “Cayendo.”

In September 2022, Ocean wiped his Instagram clean, leading to speculation about a new musical era. On the 10th anniversary of his debut album, “Channel Orange,” he released an instrumental on an episode of his Apple Music series, “Blonded Radio.” He also updated his website with new merch.

Ocean’s personal brand of mystery has left fans on edge as they search his social media accounts for hints of a new project. While no album title, tracklist, or release date has been confirmed, fan accounts like @DidOceanDrop provide daily updates on whether or not Ocean has dropped a new album. As of yet, the tweets have been a resounding mix of “no,” “nahhh,” and “no not at all” since 2018. Despite the lack of updates, Ocean’s fanbase remains poised to leap on the news as soon as he deems the album complete.
