Robert Downey Jr.’s struggles with drugs have been well-documented. According to ABC News, he was exposed to drugs from a young age, as his father, director Robert Downey, pushed them on him. In 1996, the future “Iron Man” star was arrested with an unloaded gun, cocaine, and other drugs in his car. However, he managed to turn his life around and become clean and sober from 1994 onwards.
In 2012, Downey’s son Indio Falconer Downey was arrested for cocaine possession. Cops pulled over the car he was in after noticing him smoking a pipe. He was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, but due to it being his first offense, he was ordered to attend a drug rehab program. After completing the 20-month court-mandated program without issue, his conviction was vacated. Downey expressed his gratitude for the experience, saying he was “truly grateful” and “so blessed to have [his] life back.”
