Reports from Vanguard have revealed more information about the death of elderly Lagos couple, Engr. Femi Egbeoluwa and his wife Funmi, who were killed by their domestic staff. The driver of the couple turned himself in to the police on Wednesday evening. Preliminary investigations have shown that £5,000 meant for Femi’s medical expenses was stolen.
A relative of the Egbeoluwa, who spoke anonymously, said that the driver first went to their uncle’s office but found it locked. He then walked to the police station. They discovered that Funmi was the first one attacked with wedge shoes, wood, fists, and pliers. They then went upstairs to Femi, who was not in good health. They also attacked one of the house helps, who was found unconscious on the floor.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hudenyin, confirmed that the driver was at the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigations Department, Yaba. He added that it was too early to describe him as a suspect until investigations are concluded. The injured maid is still receiving treatment in the hospital. The building where the couple was murdered has been sealed by the police as part of the forensic investigation. All that is asked for is a thorough investigation into the murder to find out who the assailants were.
