The Oyo State Police Command has denied reports of an invasion of suspected herdsmen at the Community Secondary School in Alaropo Nla, Orire Local Government Area on Thursday, March 30. It was claimed that the herdsmen had injured some of the school teachers and students who had tried to stop them from grazing their cattle on the school farm.
However, SP Adewale Osifeso, the command’s spokesman, has stated that no one was hurt and that the herdsmen were peacefully grazing their cattle outside the school grounds when people began to spread false rumors. He also noted that the state is still enjoying the peace that was present during the 2023 General elections. To confirm this, CP Adebowale Williams, the Commissioner of Police in the state, sent the Divisional Police Officer to the scene of the alleged incident and found nothing had happened.
