Police Investigate Burning of Five Suspected Thieves in Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command has reported that the five suspected armed robbers who were burned by a mob on Saturday, March 25, were already on fire when officers arrived at the scene. It is believed that the suspects had been stealing phones and other items at gunpoint in a tricycle (Keke Napep) before they were captured and killed by some angry youths. DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Command’s spokesperson, stated that when they arrived at the scene at 5:30 pm, the suspects had already been set ablaze. He also reported that five phones of different brands and a tricycle suspected to have been stolen by the suspects were recovered. He strongly condemned this act and encouraged the public to take suspects to police stations whenever they are apprehended, so that proper investigations can be conducted and justice can be served. An investigation is currently underway and further developments will be reported.
